Underground
A key feature of underground mining is the noisy activity takes place underground.
Underground mining has been put forward in the Mining Lease Proposal as the best method for efficiently extracting the gold while minimising disruption to the local community and environs.
Access to the mine will be via a single drive-in tunnel entrance that will be itself hidden below ground level by cutting a wedge-shaped pit.
We call this approach “keyhole mining” and it is an important component of our Minimal Impact Mining method.
Controlled and targeted underground blasting will be used to break rock that can then be removed via an underground front-end loader.
It is anticipated 1 to 2 blasts will take place per day. Minimal surface noise or vibration is expected as the quantity of explosive required will be small.
